Home of Dwarf Hotot, Havana, and Blanc de Hotot rabbits

UPDATE  July 2020

I appologize for the lack of updates to my page.  I am not showing at this time. I had a rough end to 2012 when I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and autoimmune induced Narcolepsy.  It has been a difficult adjustment for me personally, but I am still working with my rabbits.  I did make it to some shows and in 2013 did get #1 in youth sweepstakes for Dwarf Hotots.  I only got to a handful of shows in 2014, not my usual amount.  The rabbits still did well and another Dwarf Hotot of mine won Best in Show in May of 2014. In 2015 I needed to focus on my schooling.  I still have my Dwarf Hotots, and will have stock from time to time.

Show News

I will post some of the outstanding wins from each show so you can see how me and my rabbits are doing.  Enjoy  :-)

May 26&27, 2012                                       Nebraska Tower on the Plains                                                                       Memorial Weekend Quad Shows

The show was in Crete, NE this year, and since it was a double double, we thought we would fit it in over the holiday weekend for something fun.  It was a long ride and we found out that AT&T does not have signal as soon as you enter Nebraska...LOL  It was interesting being cut off from everyone by phone.  Anyway, I took moslty Havanas since there were juniors I still wanted to get on the tables for the first time.  I also took a few Tans, 4 Himmies, my new English Angora, and 1 Dwarf Hotot.  The Hotot bucks are molting and the does are busy with babies, but thought I should take at least 1.  I showed him in open because there were no youth breeders.  It turned into a mind blowing weekend.  The rabbits did great!

May 5, 2012                                             Havana Spring National Show &                                                                     Great Lakes Havana Specialty

The Havana Spring nationals was held in Columbus, Ohio this year.  Mom said I could choose 1 Spring National this year and I picked Havanas!  Thanks to the rabbits I got from Sandee Straight, my Havanas have beed doing very well this spring.  I took 10 rabbits, 3 of which were young juniors from my spring litters.  This was the longest drive we have done to a show so far.  We left Thursday morning.  After delays from a storm that knocked out the gas station pumps, and then a major pile up on I 70 outside of Columbus, we rolled in at 9:30 pm.  Boy were we all tired, including the bunnies.  Saturday was quite the adventure with all the breed shows that were going on.  My chocolate Havanas did very well in both shows.   I also found a new English Angora jr buck to work with.  We decided not to do the OSRBA show on Sunday as it had been a long trip for the bunnies and we still had the drive home.  What a GREAT week.  Thank You Sandee for giving my chocolate program such a boost this year

This was was my second year going to this show and again it was a great day.  The local 4H club in Wichita, Kansas puts on this show in combination with youth competitions and a series of seminars full of good information. The morning was spent listening to seminars on the the upcoming ARBA Convention in Wichita, diseases and medications, marketing stratagies, and conditioning and grooming. After that they ran the youth competitions. After lunch they started the show and once again, there were over 200 rabbits there.  This is one show I attend to qualify my rabbits for state fair since the heat is too life threatening during the county fair in July and many rabbits die.

November 24 & 25, 2011               Stephens County  RBA Triple Show

What a fun way to spend the holiday weekend.  Since this was the first time we have driven to a show of this distance during winter daylight hours, I decided to keep it simple and only take my Dwarf Hotots.  We spent Friday driving to Duncan and the C show was that night.  There were 27 Dwarf Hotots...  Saturday was long and after the Dwarf Hotots showed, we decided to head home.  The drive home was difficult and it took much longer in the dark.  I will have to consider night time driving in future show decisions.

October 27- November 2, 2011                  A.R.B.A. National Convention

This was one of the most exciting weeks I have had showing...my first ARBA Convention.  We left early Thursday morning for Indianapolis and finally arrived Friday.  I checked in for the youth competitions and settled my rabbits into their cages.  Saturday I spent the day competing in judging and breed ID.  Sunday the rabbits started to show.  There were 23,140 rabbits and cavies shown this week.  All in all, my rabbits did well.  I placed in the top 5 in every class I entered.  My friend and fellow breeder of Dwarf Hotots from Iowa, Joseph, stayed with us during the week.  He taught me about Netherlands and cavies, and I taught him about Himalayans.  He also sent 2 cute little bucks home with me for the next year to show and I sent him some Dwarf Hotots to broaden his bloodlines.  It was such a fun week and great to meet so many breeders from all over the country.  I saw breeds and varieties I have never seen at a show before.  I look forward to seeing all my new friends again next year.

Dwarf Hotot Spring Nationals was held in Sedalia, Missouri.   I decided to take 3 senior bucks, 2 senior does, and one junior doe.  All of the rabbits exhibited this year are Creekstone bred and raised.  It was a great weekend, I had a lot of fun visiting with breeders from other parts of the country.

January 15, 2011                     Sedgwick County Hare Raisers 4H Show

This was a great day in Wichita, Kansas.  The local 4H club put on this show in combination with youth competitions and a series of presentations.  The morning was spent listening to seminars on the royalty process, showmanship, cage building, cavies, and the importance of culling.  After that they started the youth competitions.  After lunch they started the show.  There were over 200 rabbits there.

January 2, 2011                Heartland Himalayan & Prarie Winds Havana                                                                     Christmas Party & Show

What a blast of a day in Junction City, Kansas.  It was so much fun getting together with so many of the exhibitors in the local Himalayan and Havana Clubs.  It is interesting how many of the breeders are attracted to both of these beautiful breeds.  I also bought Tulip, a lilac junior Himalayan doe, from Kaiya Green.               Thank you for a beautiful little girl.
